When in safe mode only the apps which came with the smartphone will run and nothing else. Usually, a quick restart is more than enough to remove safe mode. Let’s take a look at this solution in detail and some other solutions in case this one doesn’t work along with the answer to the question, “What is safe mode on my phone?”

Turn safe mode off

Here are a few things you can do to get rid of safe mode:

Method #1: Check your notifications panel. Some Android phones will display a notification which you can tap on to reboot your smartphone whenever it is in safe mode. This is the fastest way of getting out of safe mode.

Method #2: If there’s no notification, simply press and hold down the power button. This will bring up the power menu. Choose “Restart” from this menu. Give your phone a minute or two to reboot. Your device should boot normally.

Method #3: If your device still boots in safe mode what you can do is switch it off and then switch it back on using the power and the volume down buttons together.

Method #4: If none of this works, try removing the battery from the device. Wait a minute so that phone completely discharges and then reinsert the battery and turn on your device. It should be back to normal now.

Why is my phone on safe mode?

One of the newest features that were introduced back when Jelly Bean became Open Source was the ability to boot your smartphone in “Safe Mode.” Anyone who has spent time trying to diagnose a faulty Windows OS will know exactly what this mode is all about.

Just like on the PC, where just a few programs and drivers are loaded to avoid any instability in the system from third-party software, safe mode on Android is about nothing more than stopping problematic apps right in their tracks. When booted in safe mode, no third-party programs are loaded, and this gives you a chance to uninstall apps which are messing with your phone.

This is a very smart feature that Google has added to its OS, and it is certainly helpful when it comes to cleaning up misbehaving smartphones.

So if your phone is in safe mode, it’s because there’s something which is interfering with its normal functioning.

What does safe mode do?

As you would have already realized, safe mode is quite a powerful feature that is available on any Android smartphone that runs on the JellyBean OS or higher. What it does is instruct the smartphone to return to its original, default settings and doesn’t allow any third party applications to run.

This is a very powerful tool when it comes to troubleshooting Android smartphones since it lets you rule out any malfunctioning, poorly written or troublesome apps as possible causes. If you have installed bad updates or bad apps and your phone doesn’t respond properly or starts having trouble, you could put it in safe mode, uninstall the bad app and then take it out of safe mode without any trouble. It really is as easy as that.

So even if your smartphone is giving trouble, don’t worry. “Safe Mode” is often the solution.

You also get a chance to try and figure out what’s wrong and address the issue. More often than not, it’s a faulty app that you recently installed which is causing the trouble. If your phone is giving trouble, simply go into safe mode and delete any recently installed apps. This should help get your phone back to normal. It’s a much easier solution than taking your phone to a service center.Your smartphone will start in “Safe Mode” whenever there is something wrong with your phone. Whenever your phone starts in safe mode, only limited apps will run or maybe even no apps at all. This is a terrific feature offered by Google since it allows you to use your phone even when something is wrong.

There are so many apps to download, and since most of them are third-party apps, you can’t possibly be sure that every app you download will work properly. It’s nice to have the option of deleting apps before they can cause any permanent damage to your smartphone. So go ahead and download any app which catches your eye. If it doesn’t work, you now know a simple solution for getting rid of it.

How to get phone off safe mode

Sometimes it’s nothing but a faulty third-party app which is causing your phone to go into safe mode. If none of the above works try uninstalling any recent apps, you have downloaded. This should get your device back to normal and let you boot normally. Here are the steps to get this done:

1.) The most important step here is knowing whether this is the problem. There’s no point in uninstalling apps if that’s not the reason your device is in safe mode. So keep this as a last resort.

2.) Open the settings screen on your phone and go to the “Apps” or “Applications” folder.

3.) Here you will see a list of all the apps installed on your smartphone. Switch tabs till you get to the “Downloaded” tab if you aren’t already on it.

4.) Even though downloaded apps won’t run in safe mode, you can delete them. Remove all the apps you have recently downloaded and then restart your smartphone using the steps mentioned earlier. It should boot normally.
